Well, if you haven’t seen Wizkid’s super birthday wish to Queen Tiwa, then you must have seen Wizkid and Tiwa Savage’s ‘really cute’ hug and electric performance at Wizkid’s concert in Lagos, or much better, you must have heard the duos ‘Malo’, and you must be thinking that the chemistry these two got going on is real.
Tiwatope Savage-Balogun, better known by her stage name Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer and actress signed to Mavin Records. She is an award winning Soul, Afro-pop and R&B singer who is married to Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun and has a son, Jamil Balogun.
On the other hand, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known worldwide by his stage name Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. The Afrobeats superstar, who owns his own record label called Starboy entertainment, is a father of 3 and as collaborated with so many Nigerian and International stars such as Drake, Chris Brown, Wande coal, Banky W, Tekno etc. One of such collaborations worth taking note of, is that of the Mavin’s ‘Number One African bad girl’, Tiwa Savage.
Savage, on the 5th of February celebrated her birthday and of course, messages and posts flooded social media to celebrate the queen. But, one which stood out was that of Wiz baba who uploaded five (yes 5) pictures of mummy Jamjam with the caption:
“Big birthday shoutout to a Queen!! Our Queen, My Queen! Hard worker!! @tiwasavage ❤❤😘”
And the Queen’s reply was:
“Starboy, you already know how emotional I get, so this is already making me teary. Forget music you’ve been there for me even when you didn’t have to be. When I doubt myself you call me “Mama JamJam” and put a smile on my face. My dear Ayo, Mama JamJam love you.”
Anyways, that’s not the only reason why i love this duo.
Tiwa first featured Wizkid on a single titled ‘Bad’ from her 2016 “R.E.D” album. Though the single took forever to complete because of Wizkid’s hectic schedule at the time and her pregnancy, it definitely was a great song.
Next on greatness list is ‘Ma lo’, the second single off Tiwa Savage’s 2017“Sugarcane” EP, featuring for the second time, Wizkid. This smash hit was produced by Spellz, and since its Spellz… you know what to expect.
From these two singles, one could conclude that this duo ‘they make us shiver’. They obviously have ‘no wahala’ recording beautiful pieces together on a reduced tempo where they both can be comfortable unleashing songs with high melodious harmony and expression.
But i couldn’t but fall more in love with these two after Wizkid called Tiwa out at his concert and hugged her for what i call a ‘really’ long time and also called her his sister. The rest is history.
I hope to see a Wizkid featuring Tiwa Savage hit, what about you?
