The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped one spot in the latest FIFA world rankings and are now 52nd in the world.
The Eagles reached the final of the CHAN tournament and even though they lost 4-0 to hosts Morocco, would have expected to at least maintain their position from the previous ranking, but have slipped in the latest ranking announced on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup rivals Iceland achieved an all-time high 18th position in the same rankings.
The Vikings of Iceland were the revelations of the last Euros in France and they have moved to places up the ratings.
Both Nigeria and Iceland will clash on June 21 in a World Cup Group D match.
Nigeria’s other World Cup foes Argentina remain in fourth place in the rankings, while Croatia did not also move from 15th position from the previous month.
The next FIFA ratings will be released on March 15, FIFA announced.
