Princess Moradeun Ogunlana, Convener First Ladies Award and Economic Development Summit

Wife of Ogun State Governor, Dr Olufunsho  Amosun has been selected for the 2016 First Ladies Award for her contribution through her 29 initiatives under Uplift Development Foundation which have impacted many lives in Ogun State.

Convener, First Ladies Forum and Economic Development Summit, Princess Moradeun Ogunlana disclosed this at a media briefing in Lagos.

Princess Ogunlana said that 9 Nigerian youths will also be attending the Award and Economic Development summit scheduled to hold on October 25-29 in Washington DC United States of America.

The 9 youth ambassadors will be selected across all the geopolitical zones of the country, and they will be empowered in the areas of leadership and entrepreneurship skills. They youngsters will be groomed to help refocus the next generation to a world of possibilities and opportunities available to them in their environment, as a way of reducing the rising unemployment rate in Nigeria.

 The First Ladies Forum and Economic Development Summit is an international forum for the comprehensive evaluation of the socio-economic,
political and intellectual development of women.

 It also seeks to enact social emancipation
and economic empowerment of women worldwide.

The event will also be a nexus at
which relevant stakeholders involved in concerted effort towards the achievement
of the UN Sustenable Development Goal 5, would converge to re-examine progress made so far, and
to proffer workable strategies for consolidating on the gains attained.

The First
Ladies Forum, the GCWD will bring powerful high-level women leaders from
around the world to participate in a curriculum designed around the concept of
“Whole Woman, Whole Leader, Whole World.”

Participants will return to their
countries, communities, organizations, and businesses ready to achieve
unprecedented results as newly minted leaders.

“Today, we seem to live in a world that fixates more on crisis
and less on solutions. We will have to admit that the old paradigm
for social and economic systems is collapsing, and with this collapse,
our world is presenting us with one of the greatest opportunities to
lend our voices to tangible solutions”

 The Summit will be a great opportunity for participants to co-create
a better world, especially for the more disadvantaged women
and children, with the ultimate aim of having a more peaceful world

Princess Ogunlana said that the Summit will catalyze an emergent partnership of citizens, businesses, organizations and governments, working
together around the world, all year-round, to consolidate on the nascent gains achieved so far by United Nations
Sustainable Development Goal 4 and 5.

” The Inauguration, this year, of this Global Summit, is expected to continue to serve as a magnet to attract concerted and committed effort on the part of all concerned for the
continued social emancipation, economic development and general well-being of women all over the world.
We will be devoting a couple of working days, and an exciting evening, to catalyze our collaboration on a global
scale, and together co-compress, co-clarify, and co-commit on issues of women empowerment”.

 First Ladies Forum and Economic Development Summit, will hold in three cities: Washington, DC; Newark,
NJ; and United Nation Headquarters, NY from October 25th thru October 28th, 2016, as over 300 extraordinary opinion
and thought leaders gather together at the same time to celebrate extraordinary women.
