Teachers and Non Academic Staff of Kings College Lagos, have began indefinite strike over their four months unpaid salaries.
The notice of the Industrial action was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary-General of their organisation, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Alade Bashir Lawal, forwarded to Peplnews on Monday 19th of September.
The Association which is an Affiliate of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, (TUC) had registered its displeasure over the non payment of Salaries of its members in Kings College Lagos, since May 2016 till date.”
” It is very unfortunate to note that these Senior Civil Servants who belong to a very noble profession which has contributed immensely to the human capacity development in Nigeria are recklessly denied their salaries without considering the present inclement economic situation in the Country. This is quite disheartening and unfortunate.”
The notice further directed its members to commence indefinite strike if their salaries were not paid on or before Thursday last week, pending when the demand for payment of their four months salaries are met.
Peplnews investigation reveals that members of the association had made good their threat as Kings College Lagos was a ghost of itself, despite the fact that schools resumed nationwide today.
