Arsenal’s big money arrival from Lyon Alexandre Lacazette is set for six weeks on the sidelines after having a knee surgery few days after a nightmare display at Wembley against Tottenham.
The latest news means the Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger has only Danny Welbeck and Eddie Nketiah to rely upon up front for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Ostersunds as record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is cup-tied in Europe with the sale of Olivier Giroud to Chelsea last month now proving a major mistake.
A statement by Arsenal on its website reads: “France international striker underwent a minor procedure in London on Tuesday morning.
“The minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation.
“It is envisaged that he will return to the squad within four to six weeks.
“Lacazette will also miss crucial matches against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final this month and Premier League in March.
