Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, (Abia State Chapter) has embarked on an indefinite strike Monday, following what it described as the Non Compliance of Government to the Memorandum of Understanding reached on 22nd April 2015 between JUSUN and Abia State Government on the implementation of financial autonomy and independence of judiciary of Abia State.

The union stated that all points in the MOU between JUSUN and Abia State Government over the enforcement of the Federal High Court Abuja’s judgement on financial autonomy and independence of the judiciary by Abia State Government must be implemented. Issues of unremmitted trade union dues to the Union’s Secretariat in Abuja was also on the cards.

The General Secretary I. M Adetola said that the union has the support of the National Secretariat of JUSUN Abuja on this case.

He stated further that the suspended strike action resumes on Monday until the autonomy of judiciary is approved by the State Government.

It may be recalled that the union had embarked on strike last year over the same issues and suspended it while it was having a dialogue with the State Government.
